The latest published National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) Business Conditions Report (February 2017) covers the second half of 2016 and projections for the first half of 2017. For the six-month period ending December 31, 2016, overall business conditions were rated Very Good to Excellent for 30% of 131 member respondents, while business conditions were deemed Good by 36% of respondents. This was marginally better than reports at the end of June 2016. For the first half of 2017, 67% of member respondents are projecting a moderate-to-substantial increase in business conditions.
The NTMA is the national representative of the custom precision manufacturing industry in the United States. NTMA members are for the most part, small businesses, yet the industry generates in excess of $4o billion in sales annually.
